A Note from the Chairperson

Let me introduce you to a Film Festival with a 15 year-old following: The East Bay International Jewish Film Festival…previously known as The Contra Costa International Jewish Film Festival. With the addition a few years ago of screenings in the Tri-Valley region and our embracement of both East Bay counties, it is time for a name change.

For 2010, we have also made some other exciting changes. While we are continuing our morning screenings at the Contra Costa JCC, we are adding additional screenings at the Pleasant Hill CineArts and moving to that theatre’s large (800+ seat) “dome” theatre! Due to the popularity of our Festival, we outgrew our 330-seat theatre. Thank You for putting us on the East Bay’s cultural map!

The Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay are proud of presenting this annual Film Festival in collaboration with the Contra Costa JCC, the Consulate General of Israel and our many corporate, organizational and individual sponsors. This Festival, like many of our Federation’s cultural programs, brings our community together and provides opportunities for celebration, learning and growth. We thank our supporters for ensuring that our community continues to be culturally rich and vibrant.

Although we have grown significantly since our beginning fifteen years ago, the Festival’s goal remains the same as ever: to bring the community powerful, moving and thought-provoking films that build cultural bridges—films that engage the viewer and spark conversation. As our motto states: See A Film, See The World.

So join us for a film or two…or more. Sit back, relax, and see the world through our films!
